of hip-hop, nu soul, nu jazz, and broken beat.
Starting at the young age of 12, Rep gained
national recognition as a poet and rapper over a
decade ago. But in 2001, replife decided to hang
up his microphone, believing that his days as a
performance artist had passed him by. Settling into
a career as an award-wining journalist, columnist,
and editor; replife never intended to perform again… Fast forward to the year 2004 – triggered by
a run-in with aLIVE, a young producer from the
Cleveland-based hip hop group the Muamin Collective,
Rep was thrown back into the studio recording up
to five songs a week. 3-years later, he would
find himself working on his recently completed LP,
“The Unclosed Mind” (Futuristica Music) with artists
like Dego of 4Hero, Kaidi Tatham from the Bugz camp,
Marc De Clive Lowe, Atjazz, Bembe Segue, Deborah
